Always Something New Happening at the Wolfforth Library

If you haven’t visited the Wolfforth Library, December is a great month to do so! With lots of changes going on and new programming, the Library is a place for all ages!

New furniture and shelving!

This year, the library won a grant to purchase new furniture items for all areas of the library and new shelving for the Audio and Young Adult sections. Library staff are excited to announce that this furniture includes children’s room furniture, adult lounge seating, and furniture for a new teen area. The new furniture will be at the library in early 2016 so keep an eye out! This is going to help the library be even more comfortable and cozy!

Teen Arts and Crafts Day – December 12th

Saturday, December 12th from 1pm to 5pm, come and go, the library will host a fun teen painting day. This event is open to anyone from 6th through 12th grade. All paint and supplies will be available and the project for the day is metal book ends to use in the juvenile fiction and young adult areas. Encourage your teen to bring a friend and join the staff. Hot cocoa, light refreshments and snacks will also be available.

If you have a creative child or your family is full of talent, the library would love your help in designing the t-shirt for the Summer 2016 reading program. Visit the library for more information!

Snuggle Up and Read December – Pajama and Hot Cocoa Friday

The 2nd Annual “Snuggle up and Read” December is here! Every Friday in December wear your PJ’s to the library and enjoy hot cocoa as your read. Everybody needs an excuse to wear their pajamas out of the house!

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Did you  know that reading to your child is one of the most powerful ways to boost his or her brain power? The simple and enjoyable act of sharing books helps your child learn pre-reading skills such as understanding the sounds letters make, developing a bigger vocabulary, and building background knowledge – all important skills that help prepare your child for learning to read and entering kindergarten.

The City of Wolfforth Library is starting the 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten program on January 2, 2016 and it will run continually throughout the year. It is a fun, exciting, and free way to start your child on the path to success! Any child ages birth to five years can participate.

1. Starting January 2nd, come by the library and sign up! You will receive all program materials and the library staff will help you get started.

2. Get a library card if you do not already have one. YOU DO NOT NEED TO LIVE IN WOLFFORTH! If you have a Texas license or ID, you can be a member.

3. Every  book read to your child counts and there is no deadline. Your goal is to reach 1,000 books before Kindergarten! It is really that simple.
