Tiger Softball Wins Four in Metroplex Tournament

The Frenship softball team wrapped up the tournament portion of their schedule with four more wins at the Turf Wars Classic in the DFW metroplex last weekend. Here’s a look at the action:

FRENSHIP 7, DENTON GUYER 1 (Thursday): FHS knocked in four runs in the third inning on its way to a 7-1 victory over Guyer. Qo’be Harvest, Maya Mongelli, and Shay Hopkins each had RBI hits in the inning. Hopkins’s RBI hit was a home run. Torrey Hogan struck out eight Wildcat batters in five innings to earn the pitching win.

BYRON NELSON 5, FRENSHIP 4 (Thursday): The Tiger’s comeback effort fell just short in a 5-4 loss to Bryon Nelson. FHS scored three times late thanks to RBIs from Shay Hopkins, Bekah Farmer and Claudia Kerr. Caroline Kerr added a solo home run earlier in the game.

KELLER TIMBER CREEK 7, FRENSHIP 4 (Friday): Timber Creek busted open a 3-3 tie late in the game to get past FHS 7-4. Caroline Kerr went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Tigers in hits. Qo’be Harvest added a two-run home run.

FRENSHIP 9, SOUTHLAKE CARROLL 1 (Friday): The Tigers plated five runs in the third inning and three more in the fourth to cruise to victory. The five-run third happened courtesy singles from Alyssa Rundell and Claudia Kerr and a double by Maya Mongelli. Rundell was 3-for-3 at the plate to lead FHS in hits. Torrey Hogan struck out seven in six innings of pitching.

FRENSHIP 7, KELLER FOSSIL RIDGE 1 (Saturday): The Tiger offense scored runs in every inning while winning 7-1 over Fossil Ridge. By game’s end, FHS tallied eight hits with Erin Boles, Alyssa Rundell and Kyla Merritt each having two. Torrey Hogan struck out 11 Panthers to collect another pitching win.

FRENSHIP 13, LOVEJOY 12 (Saturday): After falling behind 10-0 in the first inning, FHS fought back with seven runs in the bottom of first, two more in the second and four more in the third to beat Lovejoy 13-12. Alyssa Rundell and Torrey Hogan led the Tigers with three hits apiece. Kyla Merritt had three runs batted in.
