Tiger Hoops Help Turn Off the Lights at the Coliseum

A festive crowd and Tiger fan base came out in full force to help close the Lubbock Municipal Coliseum Saturday afternoon as the Tiger hoops teams battled Lubbock Cooper.

The Tiger boys were hot early and often as FHS dominated Cooper 74-30. After outscoring the Pirates 15-5 in the first quarter, the Tigers stretched the lead to 24 by half courtesy a 24-9 second quarter run.

Three players – Javier Rios with 18, Ja’Marqus Lewis with 15, and Jordan Palmer with 13 – finished the game with double figure points.

FHS visits Coronado on Friday at 7:30 p.m.

The Tiger girls went back and forth all game with Cooper before falling in the end 56-54 to drop their first game of the season.

Cassandra Awatt and Maci Maddox scored 12 points apiece to lead FHS in scoring.

Frenship returns to the court Tuesday night when they travel to Portales (N.M.). The varsity tips at 7:30 p.m. CST
