Westwind Teachers, Students Perform in Lip Sync Battle

The battle was a part of the campus’ Miracle Pennies Drive for the Children’s Miracle Network.

Westwind-Lip-Sync-Battle-040Friday (Feb. 3) was a fun-filled day at Westwind Elementary as the campus’ Miracle Pennies Drive came to a close for the Children’s Miracle Network.

With teachers and students dressed up as famous celebrities, including Janet Jackson, Audrey Hepburn, the Trolls and more, Westwind hosted a lip sync battle to cap off the week with performances by teachers and the Westwind Student Council.

From Katy Perry’s “Roar” to Madonna’s “Girls Just Wanna Have Fun” and Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song,” all of the teachers dressed up and danced while the students sang along.

Even Westwind’s principal Todd Newberry performed in the battle.

Leading up to the battle, students and teachers at Westwind spent the week raising money for the Children’s Miracle Network. They raised money with dress up days, including pajama day, decade day and more.

In between each performance the members of the student council provided facts about the Children’s Miracle Network along with facts about Lubbock’s University Medical Center, which is a network hospital.

Campuses across the Frenship district have spent the last couple of weeks raising money for Children’s Miracle Network.

Last week, Heritage Middle School welcomed the Harlem Ambassadors for a family night, which raised more than $2,000.

Children’s Miracle Network is one of many organizations the Frenship district raises money for, including the Make-A-Wish Foundation, American Cancer Society, Lubbock Area United Way and more.
