All Westwind students received a free Frenship pullover sweater from the South Plains Electric Cooperative Thursday (Dec. 15).
The spirit of the holiday season blessed the students of Westwind Elementary thanks to a generous contribution from the South Plains Electric Cooperative (SPEC) by providing a new pullover sweater to each of the more than 600 students at Westwind Thursday (Dec. 15) just in time for the holidays.
The pullover donation comes after the Westwind Parent Teacher Association (PTA) met their membership goal of 350 members for the school year. SPEC agreed to provide the pullovers for every Westwind student if the goal was met. The donation guarantees the children have warm clothes in time for the holiday break.
“We are very appreciative for the donations from South Plains Electric Cooperative,” said Todd Newberry, Westwind principal. “Westwind’s PTA plays a tremendous role for our campus, and SPEC continues to prove a great asset to our campus and community. We are so very appreciative for both of these great teams.”
This is the third consecutive year Westwind PTA and SPEC have joined forces to benefit the students of Westwind. In 2014, SPEC provided each student with a scarf and pair of gloves. Last year, each student received a new pair of shoes.
