Congratulations to two Frenship High School athletes who are continuing their athletic careers and signed a national letter of intent with their respective universities on Tuesday.
Danielle Leaks signed with the University of Pittsburgh to run track. Leaks, already a three-year letter winner, holds the Frenship school record in the both 100-meter dash as well as the 200-meter dash, and she is a part of the school record-holding sprint relay team. She qualified for the UIL state championships in the 200 as a sophomore. Last year as a junior, she finished fourth at the regional meet in both the 100 and 200.
Jared Castro signed with Johnson County Community College to play soccer. Castro is a two-year starter as a defender for the Tiger soccer team. He was the District 2-6A Defensive MVP, a first team all-district selection, and nominated for all-region by the Texas Association of Soccer Coaches. Even as the team’s defensive specialist, he scored four goals on the season.
