It was a Tuesday night sweep on the hardwood for the Frenship Tigers versus Abilene Cooper with one win coming on the road and one win on the home floor.
The Frenship boys used a fast start and four players in double figures to carry them to a 78-66 season-opening victory at Cooper Tuesday.
Simon Chavez and Bradley Brooks scored 20 points each followed by Diego Nieto and Freddy Hall who each added 13. Chavez made two three-pointers in the game’s first minutes to help the Tigers build a 21-5 lead and never look back. Frenship led 24-12 at the end of the first quarter and 36-20 at the half.
The Tigers (1-0) made 26 field goals, seven of those from three-point land, and were 20 for 26 from the charity stripe.
FHS is on the road again Friday, but this time it’s a much shorter trip to cross-town rival Lubbock High. Tip is set for 7:30.

The Frenship girls outscored Cooper 39-10 in the second half to blow open what was a close game at halftime helping the Tigers improve to 3-0 with a 74-37 win.
Three Tigers finished in double figures led by Desiree Caldwell with 19. Addison Foster added 17 and Margaret Gaydon scored 15.
FHS now sets their sites on the Frenship Tournament this weekend. The Tigers host El Paso Americas on Thursday at noon in the Tiger Pit.
