It was another night of late-game heroics for the Frenship baseball team Tuesday night, and this round of seventh inning fireworks kept the Tigers undefeated in district and moved the current winning streak to eight in a row.
Dylan Merritt’s two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning that scored Kameron Deterding and Bradden Kennard turned a one-run deficit into a one-run victory as FHS beat Tascosa 8-7.
The Tigers played from behind all night as the Rebels scored in four of the first five innings to build a 6-2 lead. Frenship plated four in the fifth to tie the game at six. An RBI double by Bradden Kennard and a two-run double by Mason Weathers highlighted the big offensive inning.
Tascosa reclaimed the lead in the top of the seventh before Merritt’s game winning hit.
Brock Erculiani got the win in relief for Frenship. He allowed one run and struck out two in 1.1 innings of work.
Bradden Kennard led FHS at the plate. He was 3-4 with a double and two RBI. Tresten Kennard was 2-4 with a double, and Merritt finished 2-2.
Frenship, now winners of eight in a row, are 11-6-1 on the year and 3-0 in District 2-6A play. The Tigers travel to Amarillo Friday for a rematch with Tascosa. First pitch has been moved up to 1:00 pm.
