Tiger Softball Sweeps the Week, Remains Undefeated in District

Dominant pitching and timely hitting has been the recipe for success this season for FHS softball. Last week, the recipe worked again as the Tigers swept two more district games.

Last Tuesday, Torrey Hogan pitched a complete-game shutout that included 14 strikeouts, and Maya Mongelli led off the seventh inning with a walk-off home run as FHS beat Odessa High 1-0. The Tigers played flawless defense behind their pitcher with no errors as Hogan allowed only two hits.

On Friday, Qo’be Harvest launched a home run in the sixth inning that opened up a tight contest into an eventual 6-2 win versus Midland High. Hogan was dominant in the pitching circle yet again, striking out 11 Lady Bulldogs during her complete-game performance. She also helped her own cause with a solo home run at the plate. Angelica Abila and Caroline Kerr led the Tigers with two hits apiece.

FHS softball is now 21-6 and sits in first place in District 2-6A at 4-0. This week, FHS hosts Tascosa in a doubleheader Tuesday beginning at 4:30 p.m. They travel to Odessa Permian on Friday for a 7:00 p.m. first pitch.
