Congratulations to three Frenship High School athletes who signed their national letter of intent with their respective universities.
Skyler Newsome signed to play football at the University of Texas at El Paso while baseball player Colton Brown signed with Howard College and teammate Peyten Kennard signed with Odessa College.
The signing took place Wednesday, February 6 in the Frenship High School library.
Newsome, a District 2-6A All-District selection in 2018 as a wide receiver, made the most of his one season of varsity football by catching 45 passes for 757 yards and six touchdowns.
Brown, a utility player who plays outfield and pitches for the Tigers, finished the 2018 season with a .313 batting average that included four doubles, two home runs, 13 runs scored and 12 runs batted in. He was also 5-1 on the mound with a 3.98 earned run average.
Kennard, the team’s top catcher with 119.2 innings behind the plate in 2018, tabbed a .992 fielding percentage in the field while hitting .268 at the plate.
The Tigers finished the 2018 baseball season with a 28-7 record and qualified for the Class 6A area playoffs.
