TEXAS TECH STUDENT-ATHLETES TEAM UP WITH FRENSHIP ELEMENTARY STUDENTS FOR A NIGHT OF GIVING

Approximately 60 Frenship elementary students along with their parents were invited by campus counselors and Communities in Schools Site Coordinators to participate in the special holiday shopping experience where they were matched with Texas Tech student-athletes from different sports.

In addition to doing fun crafts with the student-athletes and enjoying a Whataburger dinner, each Frenship student received a $100 gift card to shop with, and Cardinals discounted everything to help those dollars stretch further.

“It’s incredible that Texas Tech Athletics has placed such a huge emphasis on leadership development and community service. Frenship is so grateful to have them as a partner in this and other programs,” said Keith Patrick, Frenship’s Director of Strategic Initiatives. “Texas Tech Athletics staff and student-athletes did a wonderful job making this a special evening. While the event lasted just a couple of hours, I think there were memories made that will have long-lasting impacts on students and their families.”

The Red Raiders Night of Giving is a new program spearheaded by Texas Tech’s J.T. and Margaret Talkington Department of Student-Athlete Development, a program dedicated to preparing all Fearless Champions to best serve, compete and lead at the highest levels throughout their lives. Since the first Red Raiders Night of Giving in 2021, the event has impacted students across Lubbock County at Lubbock ISD, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, and Frenship ISD.
