Legacy Elementary Holds Second Book Dedication

IMG_6335A book dedication event was started at Legacy Elementary last year by the wonderful members of their PTA. The event was created to help put library books on the shelves in the new school for the students to enjoy. As a way to honor the students who donated money to purchase a book the campus decided to place a dedication sticker inside the front cover of one book with that students name.

At the beginning of this school year a table was once again set up in the foyer during Meet the Teacher night and donations were accepted through mid September to purchase more books. Once all the money was collected the students were pulled from their classrooms to select a book they’d love to read during the first week of October. The books were then checked out to the students for two weeks and they placed their personalized dedication sticker inside the front cover.

One week after the books were assigned to certain students a book dedication celebration was held after school with cookies, bookmarks, certificates, pictures and time for every student to read their book to family members.

“We are very grateful for the wonderful collection of library books we now have in our library,” said Sarah Maddox, Legacy Elementary Librarian.

This has been a great opportunity for everyone at Legacy to say thank you and show their gratitude for the generosity of the families attending the elementary campus. The students have loved this event and get very excited to select their books and share them with their families and fellow classmates.
