It was a double-header sweep for the Frenship basketball teams Friday night at the Tiger Pit, one of which included a district-opening W.
The Frenship girls tipped off District 2-6A in fine fashion with a 64-43 victory against crosstown rival Monterey.
After Monterey fought back in the second quarter to tie the game at 25 at the half, the Tigers blew open a tie game at half by outscoring the Lady Plainsmen 27-6 in the third quarter.
Margaret Gaydon led all scorers with 17 points and Desiree Caldwell added 10 points. FHS was close to having four players in double figures as Addison Foster and Abbi Braddock each had nine points.
Frenship is now 16-9 on the year and 1-0 in district. The team travels to Amarillo Tuesday for a battle with Tascosa. The varsity tips at 6:00 p.m.

The Frenship boys also pulled away from a close game half to beat visiting Canyon 64-50. The Tigers outscored Canyon in three of the four quarters in the 14-point win.
FHS had five different players reach double figures in scoring. Simon Chavez led the team with 14 points, Alfonso Aguilar had 12, and Bradley Brooks, Zach Gallardo and Diego Nieto each added 10 points.
The Tigers finish out non-district play on Tuesday at Plainview before opening up District 2-6A on January 19 versus Coronado.
