FISD Board of Trustees Names Michelle McCord Lone Finalist for Superintendent

Michelle McCordThe Board of Education for Frenship Independent School District proudly announces Dr. Michelle McCord as the Lone Finalist for the Superintendent of Schools. This action was taken at a special called board meeting on November 4, 2015. A state-mandated 21-day waiting period is required before Dr. McCord can be officially hired as Superintendent. Dr. McCord currently is Interim Superintendent at Frenship ISD and has served in that capacity since May, 2015. Prior to being named Interim Superintendent, she was the Assistant Superintendent of Administrative Services at Frenship ISD since 2010. Before employment with Frenship ISD, she served as the Assessment Coordinator at Allen ISD from 2008-2010. She worked at Iowa Park High School as a campus administrator and counselor from 2004-2005. From 2000-2004 she was a junior high school counselor at Pearland ISD and Wichita Falls ISD. She has also taught high school Spanish at Holliday ISD and Archer City ISD.

Dr. McCord earned her Doctorate of Education from Lamar University. She received her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts from Midwestern State University. Dr. McCord’s community memberships include Lubbock Rotary Club and Wolfforth Lions Club. She serves on the Board of Directors for Texas Boys Ranch, Communities in Schools of the South Plains, Wolfforth Economic Development Committee, and Lubbock Area United Way Policy Committee. She is a member of the BCFS Lubbock Transition Center Advisory Board. Throughout her tenure with the district, she has been a member and facilitator for various committees.

Frenship ISD has a culture of excellence which I am extremely grateful to have been a part of since 2010. It is a sincere privilege to have the opportunity to lead such an outstanding school district. The board, administrators, teachers, staff, students, parents, and community members make this a phenominal school district and a great place to be.”
Mr. Brad Draper, School Board President, states, “The Board strongly believes that Dr. Michelle McCord is the right person to lead Frenship Independent School District. We have had an opportunity to observe Dr. McCord serve as Assistant Superintendent since 2010 and Interim Superintendent since May, 2015. She has done an outstanding job in both capacities. The Board is certain that Dr. McCord will continue Frenship ISD’s long-standing tradition of excellence.”
Region 17 Service Center Executive Director, Dr. Kyle Wargo, who led Region 17’s team in assisting the Frenship ISD Board of Trustees with the superintendent search, states,”I was highly impressed with the focus and commitment the board displayed in the superintendent search process. It was evident that they took their responsibility as school trustees very seriously in selecting the right fit for Frenship ISD.”
Frenship ISD is located in Southwest Lubbock County, with a student population of more than 9,100. The district has seven elementary schools, three middle schools, one high school (6A), and an alternative campus. There are two additional campuses under construction. The school motto is “Seek Perfection, Capture Excellence,” and the mission is to “educate and develop all students by providing a foundation to empower them to reach their maximum potential and realize their opportunity of choice.”
