Frenship High Artist Earns Scholastic Art Silver Medal

CassandraAwattFrenship ISD is pleased to announce that Frenship High School freshman Cassandra Awatt earned a silver medal in the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards of 2016. She received her medal in the Drawing and Illustration category for her artwork titled “Inside Out.”

Awatt was identified by a panel of creative professionals as one of the most talented young artists and writers in the nation. This year, 320,000 works of art and writing were submitted by students in 7th – 12th grades. Only the top one percent were recognized at the national level.

Awatt was recognized with her silver medal as well as a letter and certificate presented by FHS Principal Greg Hernandez.

Since 1923, the Awards have recognized teenagers from across the country. By receiving a Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Silver Medal, Awatt joins a legacy of celebrated authors and artists including Andy Warhol, Sylvia Plath, Truman Capote, Richard Avedon, Robert Redford, Lena Dunham, and the renowned filmmaker who will receive our Alumni Achievement Award this year, Ken Burns.
