Frenship Middle School’s National Honor Junior Society raised money with donation drives, pep rallies and more to donate over a thousand dollars to the Southwest Cancer Center’s Women’s Boutique.

It was a great start to the week when Frenship Middle School’s National Honor Junior Society (NJHS) presented a check for $1,074.65 as well as a box of hats to the Southwest Cancer Center’s Women’s Boutique, located at University Medical Center.
The donation came about when the honor society wanted to help a local organization.
“In years past we have helped larger organizations such as Susan G. Komen, but this year we wanted to help a local organization,” said Lindsey Frick, vice president of NJHS at Frenship Middle School. “After doing some research, we found out about the Women’s Boutique here at the Southwest Cancer Center and decided to help raise money for them.”
Over the past school year, the honor society raised money during pep rallies, selling items at football games, donation drives and more to help donate to the boutique.
“It’s always great to help someone or an organization within our own community,” Frick said.
Sandy Olgetree, executive director of the UMC Foundation said the donation will help purchase wigs and provide transportation and other services for patients at UMC.
The boutique offers a safe place for women to learn how to style wigs, wear scarves and more while going through chemotherapy.
