FHS Softball Blasts Nine Homers, Scores 46 Runs in Playoff Sweep

Frenship_F_Logo_blueThe pitching of El Paso El Dorado nor the fences at the Ratliff softball complex could contain the Frenship Tiger bats last weekend as the Tigers rode the power of nine combined home runs in two games to back-to-back run-rule victories and a Bi-District playoff series sweep of the Lady Aztecs.

In Friday’s series opener, FHS hit seven home runs, four of those coming in a 12-run second inning, to win 25-3. Felicia Luna hit two dingers in the second inning alone as part of her 4-for-5 day with three total home runs and four runs batted in. Hayden Brown was also 4-5 with three home runs and added 10 RBI. Mackenzie Ramirez added a long ball as part of her 2-2 day. Torrey Hogan picked up the pitching win.

The Tigers closed out the series Saturday morning by blowing open a tight game with 13 runs in the fourth inning and winning 21-6. Anna Williams added to the home run parade with two more shots over the fence and a total of 6 RBI. Keeley Etchison, the game’s winning pitcher, helped her own cause by going 3-3 at the plate with a double and 5 RBI. Caroline Kerr was also 3-4 with 2 RBI.

The bi-district series sweep moves FHS into the Class 6A area playoffs with the Keller Lady Indians. The three-game series gets underway Friday at 3:00 p.m. Game two is Saturday at 9:00 a.m. with a game three to follow if necessary. All games will be played at Abilene High School.
