Eleven Frenship High School Students Advance to State in HOSA

“The students in our Health Science Program are amazing. Our HOSA kids are dedicated and work so very hard,” said Melissa Rose, FHS Certified Nurse Aid Program Director and Instructor. “They study on their own time to do well on these tests, and many come before or after school or during out periods to get assistance with skills – all while keeping up with other activities, sports, and schoolwork.”Many of the students had to take an online test back in December against hundreds of students. Based on the testing, six Frenship students qualified for the state competition including:

Lindsey Larremore – Behavioral Health
Nini Hoang – Nutrition
Natalie Dang – Human Growth and Development
Ava Monico – Medical Math
Alli Holder – Pharmacology
Marvin Shaikh – Pharmacology

Other students had to continue with a skills portion of the event during the Area competition in El Paso earlier this month. At the Area competition, Frenship students went head to head with students from Canyon ISD, Lubbock ISD, Lubbock-Cooper ISD, Brownfield ISD, Levelland ISD, and all the high schools in El Paso including Medical Magnet schools. At the end of the competition, another five Frenship students qualified for state including:

Madison Jerome – Vet Science
Ahmad Altabaa – HOSA Bowl Team: Medical Trivia
Zach Madry – HOSA Bowl Team: Medical Trivia
Cade Salisbury – HOSA Bowl Team: Medical Trivia
Jazmine Mills – HOSA Happenings: Presentation of Year in Review

“We have pretty tough competition with the Medical Magnet schools in El Paso. It’s is super competitive, but our students have done an amazing job again this year,” said Rose. “Mrs. Schaunaman and I are so very proud of all of these students!”
