Third grade students at Bennett Elementary have the opportunity to participate in active music-making through singing, speaking, moving and playing instruments. On Friday, March 6, Bennett 3rd graders performed four folk dances they learned in music class for a large audience of parents and loved ones. Through folk dancing the students learn to move to the beat, hear music from different cultures and work cooperatively with the students around them. Ms. Cora Mueller, music teacher at Bennett Elementary, showcased routines that varied from partner dancing to line dancing and included music from around the world. Not only are the students learning about music, but they are also receiving a history lesson and getting in more physical education. This was a wonderful opportunity for parents to witness multiple subjects being taught to their children through one of their classes.
