The Frenship girls (20-2-1) begin the playoffs this Thursday night when the district champs square off with El Paso Eastwood (9-9). The match is set to begin at 6:00 p.m. at Ratliff Stadium in Odessa. Last season, the Tigers made history by advancing to the regional tournament for the first time in school history. This season could be a return trip as FHS has played solid all season outscoring its opponents by a total score of 98-9.
The Frenship boys (20-2) are eager to get the playoffs underway, and they’ll do it Friday afternoon versus El Paso El Dorado (8-13-1). The match is scheduled for a 3:00 CST start in Artesia, New Mexico. First-year head coach Scott Smith has the Tigers playing well this season, and he is very appreciative of the fan support his team has received.
“What a great game, what a great crowd, what a great feeling, what a great first year!” said Smith. “We’ve trained for all the success this season from the very first day of school year – on the soccer field and in the classroom. This doesn’t happen by chance. All of our boys have bought in to their learning this year and they now get to enjoy the fruits of their hard day-to-day training. I’m thrilled for our seniors, I’m thrilled to see future tigers, and I’m very grateful I was given the opportunity to help improve the program with a winning culture and hit the ground running straight away.”
