Competing in what is considered one of the top high school tournaments in the nation, the Frenship boys golf team landed a top 10 team finish out of the 52 schools who competed in the prestigious Bart Granger Memorial Tournament held this past weekend in Ft. Worth.
The Tigers’ two-round total of 595 (294-301) earned the team the great finish against many top 6A and 5A programs in Texas as well as schools from Arizona and California.
FHS junior Brian Boles – a Texas Tech commit – led the Tigers with a three-under par total of 139 (69-70). His Friday round included an albatross, a score of two on a par five, on the fifth hole. He made the shot from 234 yards out using a 3-wood. An albatross is considered the biggest accomplishment in golf.
Logan Vargas, Jayce Hargrove, Leyton Lee, and Owen Wallace all played well as the Tigers averaged a score of 73.5 as a team to earn the top 1o finish.
The varsity boys will play again on Monday, October 1 in Granbury.
