PHOTO GALLERY: North Ridge Explores Cross-Curricular Activity

By Bridgett Turner

Fourth graders in Mrs. Hearn’s and Mrs. Grothusen’s classes at North Ridge Elementary came together for a cross-curricular lesson.

They explored science, math, english and reading. Their lesson was based on cooking but learned that procedures, fractions, predictions, mixtures and solutions were part of the recipe. This group of fourth graders walked away with a tasty treat, but will remember the lesson because of the real world context.

This lesson is an example of the Show portion of the FISD Instructional Model – TIGERS Learning Framework. More information about the TIGERS framework can be found here.
