Oak Ridge students and teachers are showing their support of the tiniest of them all by wearing yellow today. “Yellow Day” is one of several days in a series of Colors of the Week that teaches their kindergarten students all about how to identify and spell different colors.
“Wearing the Color of the Week is one way all of Oak Ridge can support our kindergartners,” said Katrina Hall, kindergarten teacher. “It gives our school a sense of unity.”
The kindergarten teachers creatively celebrate the Colors of the Week through songs, writing and making the colors be a part of the world around them on Wednesdays throughout the year.
“We think it’s important to have a day that we all wear the color that kindergarten is learning,” said Hall. “We announce the Color of the Week on KROR at the beginning of the week and encourage students, as well as teachers, to come to school on Wednesday wearing the color.”
Not only do the kindergarten students learn all about colors, they feel the love from the whole campus through seeing the older students and teachers supporting them.
