LADY TIGER BASKETBALL NETS FIRST WIN OF DISTRICT PLAY

The Lady Tigers opened District 2-6A play at the Tiger Pit on Friday night with an 89-37 drubbing of the Odessa Permian Lady Panthers. Kaylee Rendon set a new 2019-2020 single-game scoring bar for the Tigers with a 21-point effort on the night, and Maci Maddox chipped in another 20.

The ladies jumped out to a 42-21 first-half lead and never looked back. The Tigers struggled from beyond the arc in the first half with Maci Maddox owning the only 3-pointers, but Ashlyn Caddell and Zaria Fowler knocked down their own in the second further extending the Tiger lead. The third quarter was owned by Kaylee Rendon who chipped in 8 points and led the way to outscoring the Lady Panthers 26-5 in that period.

The Tigers (18-5, 1-0) continue to roll through a season in which they have tested themselves heavily. Of the Tigers’ five losses, four came at the hands of #1 ranked teams (Amarillo, Idalou, Shallowater, Canyon) and the fifth to #5 ranked Plano. The ladies handed Permian their first District 2-6A loss of the season and dropped them to 6-16 overall.
