North Ridge Students Write Letters to Veterans

Fifth grade students at North Ridge Elementary shared their appreciation for the men and women who bravely served our country through a recent assignment by writing letters to Honor Flight veterans.

North Ridge teacher, Mr. Ken Hearn, was contacted by a friend who is involved in the Texas South Plains Honor Flight, a project dedicated to honoring the service of area veterans with a three-day trip to Washington DC to see their war memorials.

According to their website, the annual Texas South Plains Honor Flight to Washington DC is at no cost to the veteran. All expenses including charter flight, lodging, and meals are covered by contributions from local civic, religious, education, business, foundation, and private donors.

The North Ridge students were proud of their work and enjoyed having an opportunity to show their respect.
