Frenship ISD Schools Honor Veterans

Frenship ISD Schools Honor Veterans

Schools across the district honored veterans with musical performances, special projects, letters, and more.

4th grade teacher Leslie Rundell had this to say about student activity around the holiday:

4th Graders at Westwind Elementary have been learning about the brave men and women that serve our country every day. During our discussions, students asked about Memorial Day and the difference between the holidays. The difference between the holidays is that Veterans Day celebrates the service of all men and women in the Armed Forces, and Memorial Day celebrates the service of men and women who died serving in the Armed Forces. Either way, we have developed a sense of pride within our students as they now have a better understanding of Veterans Day and what it means to be a Veteran.

The students were asked their thoughts and some of them replied with, “We want to support the people who fought for our freedom and continue to fight.” “I am thankful that they are serving our country. They defend our country from enemies.” Finally, we love the day off, but we should always remember that we are Americans and these brave men and women allow us to have the freedoms we enjoy so much!
