FMS Eighth Grader Advances in Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest

The talented writer has found success through the Veterans of Foreign Wars annual contest.

Frenship Middle School 8th Grader Lynnli Wiseman entered the VFW’s essay contest after the opportunity was presented to her through Ms. Parrish’s English class.

The Patriot’s Pen Essay Contest has a specific theme that the entrants must follow. This year’s theme is “America’s Gift to My Generation.”

After submitting her essay to the local VFW post, Wiseman learned that she had won the contest for the Lubbock and surrounding area. Her essay then advanced to regional judging, were it was named the best essay in a 38 county region.

Wiseman’s essay will now be judged against other top essays from Texas for the opportunity to win an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.

“I’m so thankful for the opportunity that this has given me,” said Wiseman.

“But I’m most thankful to have a way to show veterans how much I support and appreciate them through my essay.”
