City of Wolfforth Implements Stage Two Drought Regulations

STAGE TWO DROUGHT CONTINGENCY REGULATIONS

EFFECTIVE MAY 21, 2018

MANDATORY WATER CONSERVATION

Due to continued drought conditions, the City of Wolfforth has implemented the Stage Two Drought Contingency regulations.

ORDINANCE NO.  505

Stage 2 – Serious Water Shortage Conditions

Goal:  Achieve a twenty-five percent (25%) reduction in daily water demand.

Supply Management Measures:

Measures, if any, to be implemented to manage limited water supplies and/or reduce water demand may include reduced or discontinued flushing of water mains, activation and use of an alternative supply source(s); reduced or discontinued irrigation of public landscaped areas.

Mandatory Water Use Restrictions:

  1. Water customers with automatic sprinkler systems are required to limit the irrigation of landscaped areas to Mondays and Thursdays for customers with a street address ending in an even number (0, 2, 4, 6, 8, or no address) and Tuesdays and Fridays for water customers with a street address ending in an odd number (1, 3, 5, 7, 9), and to irrigate landscapes only between the hours of 8:00 p.m. in the evening preceding the designated watering day and 10:00 a.m. on the morning of the designated watering day.
  2. Water customers with hose-end (impact, tractor, oscillating, etc.) sprinklers, regardless of addressing, are required to limit the irrigation of landscaped areas to Sundays, Wednesdays, and Saturdays, between the hours of 8:00 p.m. in the evening preceding the designated watering day and 10:00 a.m. on the morning of the designated watering day.
  3. Irrigation of landscaped areas is permitted at any time if it is by means of a hose held in hand, a faucet filled bucket or watering can of five (5) gallons or less, or a drip irrigation system.
  4. All operations of the City of Wolfforth shall adhere to water use restrictions prescribed for Stage 2 of the Plan.
  5. Water customers are requested to practice water conservation and to minimize or discontinue water use for non-essential purposes.

Property owners with private water wells within the City limits are also required to follow these regulations. (Ordinance No. 446)

Failure to comply with restrictions may result in a penalty or in discontinued water service.  Thank you for your cooperation as we all strive to conserve this essential resource.
