Tiger Baseball Remains Undefeated After Beating Coronado

frenship_tiger_pawKoby Claborn and Hayden Harrison were a combined 6-for-6 at the plate with five extra base hits, and their timely hitting was enough to keep Frenship undefeated in District 2-6A as the Tigers pushed by Coronado 5-3 Friday night at O’Banion Field.

After falling behind 2-0 early, Frenship tied the game in the fourth inning. Harrison mashed a solo home run in the fourth to tie things at two. He followed his home run with a game-changing two-run double in the fifth that gave the Tigers a lead they would not relinquish.

He finished 3-for-3 with a home run, two doubles and three runs batted in. Claborn continued his hot bat by going 3-for-3 with two doubles.

Coronado scored one run in the sixth to pull within two, but senior Chandler Casey slammed the door on a complete-game performance to get the win on the mound. Casey (2-0) scattered 10 hits but only gave up three runs in seven innings. He struck out seven and walked only two.

Frenship is now 15-6 and in the driver’s seat of District 2-6A at 6-0. The Tigers have a three-game lead on the rest of the district with six games to play.

The team has their first meeting of the year with Amarillo High this week in a two-game series. Game one is set for Tuesday in Amarillo at 4:30 pm. Game two is in Wolfforth Friday night at 7:00 pm.
